U.S. probe Pioneer 10 hunting for alien life


 

Pioneer 10 is an abandoned NASA space probe, which served the exploration of Jupiter and the interplanetarymedium and the asteroid belt. It was on 3 March 1972 from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral launch an Atlas-Centaur rocket.
The plaque from Pioneer 10 was designed as an information carrier for aliens who could possibly find the probe. It measures 22.9 cm in width and 15.2 cm in height. The base material is a 1.2 mm thick aluminum platefor corrosion protection is covered with gold. Primary image elements are a man and a woman, both naked, and the silhouette of the spacecraft to allow a size comparison. The position of the Earth is relative to fourteenpulsars. Furthermore, the solar system and a hyperfine transition of a hydrogen atom are shown.
