In the coming years, the asteroid databases explode with new observational data, experts warn. And some ofus could possibly one day chunks are dangerous. European space experts plan the Don Quijote mission to protect the earth. However, this currently lacks the money. Now there are four million euros from the EU Commission for the work on the project NEO-Shield. Of research institutes and industrial partners again cometo € 1.8 million. In three years, the experts will then come up with the blueprint for a test mission. This couldeventually start to 2020 - when it finds a financier, the European Space Agency Esa about. Hopefully it will not be too late!
