UFO incident in Teheran in 1976

At 0.30 hours of September 19, 1976 Air Base Mehrebad receive a flight controller, Perouzi, signaling the presence of a bright light in the sky. General Yousefi, base commander, ordering a radar control, which fails. The general, however, decided to send a reconnaissance fighter, piloted by Captain Azizkhani; during the flight, the fighter has a black-out in radio communications and is part of the base.
It is therefore a second scrambled fighter, piloted by Lieutenant Jafari. The pilot sighted the object, which has a bright light ranging from red, yellow and orange. Following the movement of the object, the driver feels threatened and tries to launch a missile, but the delivery system does not work. The plane then made an evasive maneuver and returned to base. On the way back, Jafari see another bright object cross the sky. The next day, a helicopter patrolling the area for any signs of landing, but nothing is found.
The incident there was an investigation conducted by General Azarbarzin, who interrogated the witnesses of the sighting.
Military Documentation

The event was described in a document of 4 pages of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for the White House, the Secretary of State, the chief of staff, National Security Agency (NSA) and CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). The conclusion of the DIA was that "this is a classic case that meets the requirements necessary to justify a study of the UFO phenomenon," as reported by Jafari Lieutenant (later General).
It remains one of the best documented military encounters in history [citation needed] of UFO phenomena: Iranian military officials involved nell'avvistamento, including General Jafari, said they were convinced that the object could not be of terrestrial origin. Even the U.S. military, Major George Filer III like, have witnessed the event.
Explanations of the skeptics

According to Philip J. Klass observed the UFO was actually the planet Jupiter, which at that time was very brilliant, the malfunction of the aircraft instrumentation and incompetence of the pilots would explain the rest [4]. Klass's interpretation has been challenged by Jerome Clark, and also by Bruce Maccabee, who led an investigation into the sighting.
Other skeptics have called into question but a meteor.
